GETTING STARTED
- Start by collecting, photos, articles, and samples of designs and materials that are appealing to you.
- Research various showrooms and service providers, make sure they have qualified designers, which can meet your needs and wants, ask friends for referrals to ensure that your goals and needs are aligned with the firm you select.
- Establish a realistic budget. Think on the things you can and can't live without.
- Draw a rough sketch of your floor plan and take measurements, Don't worry to much we actually send someone, to do measures for you, free of charge.
- If building new construction get a floor plan from the architect or builder, again we will take measures just to be sure.
- Call us to make an appointment, or stop into our showroom at any time.
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
- Make a list of what you like and dislike about your current situation.
- Create a wants and needs list for your project. Prioritize the items in order of importance.
- List the architectural style and age of your home. Consult with the designer the best choice for you; refer to photos and samples you may have collected.
- If you plan on making big changes to your home, measure out all affected and adjoining rooms to discuss options with a Designer.
- How does your lifestyle or family affect your decisions over the next few years? Will you become "empty nesters," or new parents?
- Do you plan on selling your home in the near future or do you plan on residing at your residence for more than three years?
- Do you entertain frequently? If you do, consider the functionality and flow of your space.
- Are there major structural changes to consider, such as moving a wall or window?
- Establish a budget for the entire project that is realistic. Discussing a budget beforehand with qualified companies will make the process easier for you and could save you money.
- Decide what items (ie: cabinetry, countertop) you want to invest the most money into.
- Preview appliance models and sizes prior to the start of your design.
- Are there time constraints for the work? Can this goal be accomplished? Please let us know right away so we can help you meet the deadline!
- Make a list of qualities that you are looking for in your remodeling designer.
- Are you working with an interior designer?
- Do you plan on doing any of the work yourself?

TIPS TO REMEMBER BEFORE YOUR PROJECT BEGINS
Prior to the start of your project please remember to make notes of what everybody's responsibility is.
To ensure flawless installation, we provide a knowledgeable installer to meet you at your home to discuss the details of your plan and installation. When construction begins, please know who is responsible for the following:
- Move your existing refrigerator to your temporary out of the kitchen location.
- Cover floors leading from the exterior doors to the remodeling area.
- Cover floors in the remodeling area that are being saved or reused.
- Move other existing appliances, cabinetry and countertops to the garage or other location.
- Seal up doorways, heat registers and cold air returns to control dust.
REMODELING HELPFUL HINTS
In order for your project to be as unobtrusive as possible, we've put together some remodeling tips for you:
- Determine a location that can be used as a temporary kitchen (if applicable), such as a laundry room, bar area or dining room. In some cases, a temporary sink can be installed in your temporary kitchen space.
- Clean out an area in the garage so it may be used as a staging area for materials delivered to the job site prior to their installation.
- Remove all items from existing cabinetry. Place items in boxes and mark the boxes with the contents. Remove boxes from the remodeling area.
- Remove all items from the countertops. You may want to retain some items for use during the remodeling such as: coffee makers, toasters, microwaves or toaster ovens. Take these items to your temporary kitchen.
- Remove all items from walls in and around the remodeling area.
- Cover furniture and floors in surrounding areas with sheets or plastic to protect them from the remodeling dust.
- Remove area rugs in and around the remodeling area.
- Discuss access and security to your home with your remodeling professionals. Decide if they should use a lock box for house keys, or if your security system requires any special instructions for them.
- Trade professionals will not normally answer your phone, but may at times need to use the phone. Please discuss any communications concerns with your remodeling team.
- Decide where you want the trade professionals to park.
- Decide if bathroom facilities will be available for your family and the trade professionals during the remodeling project, or if temporary facilities should be ordered.
- Communicate to your neighbors that you will be remodeling and that there may be more noise and traffic in the neighborhood than usual.
- If you live in a condominium or townhouse, please discuss the remodeling with the Association and your surrounding neighbors. Find out what the rules are concerning elevator usage and parking for the trade professionals.
- For your protection and ours, please keep pets and children clear of the remodeling area at all times.
